Leprino Foods Company, a global leader in the dairy food and ingredient industry, is seeking a dedicated Vacancy Relief Operator to join our team located in Waverly, NY.
Leprino Foods is the world's largest supplier of mozzarella cheese and one of the largest suppliers of premium dairy nutrition ingredients.
Our customers and business partners span the globe and include many of the world's largest food companies, restaurant chains and distributors.
The Vacancy Relief Operator role provides coverage for any operator position on the production floor as needed.
The individual in this position must be fully trained on each area to operate, troubleshoot, and respond to upset conditions as needed.
In addition to providing break relief, this position plays a key role in our sanitary procedures.
This includes donning full-body protective equipment (PPE) and spraying machinery and equipment with a hot sanitizer.
Employees in this role must be capable of withstanding high heat and humidity.
Schedule: Current Vacancies: 6:00am-6:30pm and 6:00pm-6:30am- effective 12/31/2023.
Currently we are on 8 hour shifts.
Our schedules run 12 hours on a 2-2-3 rotation that allows for every other weekend off.
Leprino Foods is a 24/7 operating facility, and the employee must be willing and able to work days or nights.
After training is complete, new hires will be assigned a regular schedule on the next available shift.
Pay Rate: $27.

50 Weekend Pay Differential for every hour worked Saturday & Sunday Responsibilities: Cover vacation days for the Cheese Department Operators as outlined below: Cheese Slurry P2 Operator Prepare start up and shut down process Perform cut in and cut out testing for state and document on graph chart Monitor seals for leaks Perform can checks and calibrate ingredient application system daily Verify divert valve is functioning correctly Refer to make plan to determine amount of powder, whey cream, water and gluconic acid required Adjust set points according to plan Direct system based on pounds per hour, set flow rate and monitor flow meters Monitor pump speeds, flow rates, pressure and temperature throughout process Take samples and test for pH and total solids in DMC lab Maintain correct level in Dry Mixer Hold Tank Check magnets before start up and at the end of each day Communicate with the Cheese Foreperson and follow the Shutdown Calculation Sheet to perform change-overs Operate overhead hoist to remove strainers Perform CIP processes, making necessary manual connections Spray out strainers every 4 hours Update Master Sanitation Schedule Follow required Lockout / Tagout procedures Any additional duties as assigned DMC Operator Performs pre-start up inspections Controls the mat thickness for consistency by adjusting belt speed, side panels, and vat curd pumps Controls dwell time by adjusting belt speed, width, and length Controls dicer speed Adjusts settings for stir fingers to achieve proper agitation Maintains proper positioning of the curd distributors Monitors condition of the belt Obtains samples to monitor moisture and pH levels, including using a pH meter Performs nightly shut-down procedure to prepare for CIP process Pre-heat Operator Performs pre-start up inspections Controls process by adjusting dwell time, temperature, curd density, and water addition Monitors and trouble shoots process to prevent high fat loss, high fines loss, under melt or over melt functionality, and scrap loss Maintains optimal agitator speed Maintains proper curd to liquid ratio Obtains samples to measure solids using a refractometer Performs CIP process on tanks between each product code Finesavers Operator Performs pre-start up inspections Measures the amount of fines using a cone test Maintains optimal auger speed Adjusts finesaver unit to control consistency of fines Changes screens regularly to clean and sanitize Transfers screens to Clean Out of Place (COP) tank Inspects screens regularly to prevent extraneous Mixer Operator Follow pre-start up procedures and inspections Operate the wet and dry mixers to a level of proper cheese consistency and feel Control the curd rate to mixer and auger speed Maintain proper flow of hex Control the addition of wet and dry ingredients Maintain temperature within proper set points Monitor condition of gaskets and Teflon coating Take samples and test pH level Perform can fill check to verify the accuracy of the flow meter Ensure correct dwell time in the dry mixer Identify problems with production equipment and troubleshoot solutions Clear any obstructions Update records as required Disassemble equipment for cleaning and make connections for cleaning equipment in place Understand the operation of the sanitizing system Perform chemical testing Keep area clean including sweeping, vacuuming and trash removal Any additional duties as assigned Noltec Operator Operate equipment to mix blends of dry ingredients according to Make Plan Coordinate with Cheese Foreperson during changeovers Maintain inventory levels Load dry ingredients in major bins Transfer unused powder to excess bin Order supplies as needed Keep are clean including sweeping, vacuuming and trash removal Any additional duties as assigned Vat Operator Operate the HTST, vats and CIP system for eight vats simultaneously in a fast paced environment Communicate clearly with the Quality Department, Cheese Production Operators and department management React quickly and adjust / troubleshoot equipment to maintain product specifications.

Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with high degree of accuracy Preferred Qualifications: At least 3 years prior manufacturing experience Experience in a dairy/food manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with SAP or other manufacturing software system working with touch screens.

Physical Demands & Environment: This position will be exposed to working in a wet/slippery environment with loud noise in varying degrees of temperature.
