Leprino Foods Company, a global leader in the dairy food and ingredient industry, is seeking a dedicated Break Relief Operator to join our team located in Waverly, NY.
Leprino Foods is the world's largest supplier of mozzarella cheese and one of the largest suppliers of premium dairy nutrition ingredients.
Our customers and business partners span the globe and include many of the world's largest food companies, restaurant chains and distributors.
The Break Relief Operator role provides coverage for break relief for the Mixers, Vats, and Separators.
The individual in this position must be fully trained on each area to operate, troubleshoot, and respond to upset conditions as needed.
In addition to providing break relief, this position plays a key role in our sanitary procedures.
This includes donning full-body protective equipment (PPE) and spraying machinery and equipment with a hot sanitizer.
Employees in this role must be capable of withstanding high heat and humidity.
Schedule: Leprino Foods is a 24/7 operating facility, and the employee must be willing and able to work days or nights.
The current vacancy is on night shift, from 6:00pm-6:30am.
Our schedules run 12 hours on a 2-2-3 rotation that allows for every other weekend off.
After training is complete, new hires will be assigned a regular schedule on the next available shift.
Pay Rate: $27.
60 per hour $0.
75 Evening Pay Differential for every evening hour worked between 3:00pm-6:00am $0.
50 Weekend Pay Differential for every hour worked Saturday & Sunday Responsibilities: Provide break relief for the following positions: Mixer Operator: Follow pre-start up procedures and inspections Operate the wet and dry mixers to a level of proper cheese consistency and feel Control the curd rate to mixer and auger speed Maintain proper flow of hex Control the addition of wet and dry ingredients Maintain temperature within proper set points Monitor condition of gaskets and Teflon coating Take samples and test pH level Perform can fill check to verify the accuracy of the flow meter Ensure correct dwell time in the dry mixer Identify problems with production equipment and troubleshoot solutions Clear any obstructions Update records as required Able to run the DMC and take all required tests and samples Provide back-up to brine operator duties Disassemble equipment for cleaning and make connections for cleaning equipment in place Understand the operation of the sanitizing system Perform chemical testing Keep area clean including sweeping, vacuuming and trash removal Any additional duties as assigned Vat Operator Operate the HTST, vats and SIP system for eight vats simultaneously in a fast paced environment Communicate clearly with the Quality Department, Cheese Production Operators and department management React quickly and adjust / troubleshoot equipment to maintain product specifications.
Legibly complete the Make Sheet Take samples of milk, curd and whey at scheduled times Understand cheesemaking procedures (i.
e.
: soft sets, poor acid development, weak curd, and starter problems) Follow proper agitator RPM’s Perform all necessary checks / calibrations including metering starter and thermometers at designated times Recognize and communicate potential deviant situations Start up and shut down HTST Maintain the plant production schedule Apply lockouts to equipment as required Any additional duties as assigned Separator Operator: Operate the HTST, separator and CIP system Start up and shut down HTST, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements React quickly and adjust / troubleshoot equipment to maintain product specifications Complete Daily Checklists Handle and test chemicals Enter data into MES computer system Monitor and test product quality Recognize and communicate potential deviant situations Communicate clearly with the Quality Department, Cheese Production Operators, Whey Production Operators, and department management Apply lockouts to equipment as required Any additional duties as assigned Additional Duties Provide break relief as needed Hoses down floor and equipment Applies lockouts to equipment as required Any additional duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
One year prior manufacturing experience Able to read and write and have a strong mathematical skill set Must be able to work Sunday - Saturday, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and required overtime to support a 24 hour/7 day operation.
Must be willing and able to work in hot, humid environments.
Must have a demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with high degree of accuracy.
Prior food industry experience is preferred.
Language & Technical Skills: Able to read, write, and communicate effectively with co-workers and leadership.
Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products.
Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system.
Physical Demands & Environment: This position will be exposed to working in a wet/slippery environment with loud noise in varying degrees of temperature.
Must be able to withstand high heat and humidity.
Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods.
