Schuyler Hospital is seeking to hire a Full Time Paramedic Supervisor for our recent collaboration with Schuyler County.
The Paramedic Supervisor will perform patient care tasks consistent with their level of training and scope of practice.
This includes general patient assessment, basic and advanced airway and breathing management, CPR and defibrillation, recognition and treatment of shock, emergency childbirth, and the care of medical emergencies.
In addition, the Paramedic must be proficient in the care of victims of trauma that include basic and advanced trauma assessment, bleeding control, helmet removal, extremity immobilization and splinting, and spinal immobilization.
The Paramedic Supervisor incorporates advanced life support skills as needed that include intravenous and intraosseous access, the incorporation of advanced airway equipment, multiple ventilation and oxygenation modalities, and controlled and non-controlled medication administration.
The Paramedic Supervisor must also be able to document their patient care as part of an electronic medical record.
As the highest level of emergency medical technician licensure, the Paramedic Supervisor must maintain oversight over the care provided by EMTs and Paramedics working as part of their team.
The Paramedic Supervisor will be required to safely operate agency vehicles in both emergency and non-emergency scenarios, as well as utilize multiple pieces of medical and patient movement equipment according to manufacture instructions for use and agency guidelines.
Paramedic Supervisors must also possess the willingness to assist caring for patients in the emergency departments of Cayuga Health System as directed by their leadership team, and within a well-defined in-hospital scope.
In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of a Paramedic, the Paramedic Supervisors will maintain immediate oversight overall EMS operations during their assigned shift.
These duties will also encompass crew assignments, vehicle positioning, medical and oxygen resupply operations to include strict adherence with the controlled substance plan, coordination of vehicle and equipment maintenance, and schedule coverage.
The Paramedic Supervisors act as the agency's frontline leaders, and are held responsible for ensuring consistent and accurate flow of information from all members of the agency and their leadership team.
Job Requirements
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
Valid New York State Paramedic license
Valid American Heart Association (or equivalent) Basic Life Support CPR certification
Valid American Heart Association Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification
Valid American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License from the state of legal residence, with a driving record that demonstrates general compliance with motor vehicle laws
Successful completion of the emergency Vehicle Operator's Certification (within 12 months of hire)
Bachelor's degree and/or at least one year of supervisory experience preferred
